Supermorph 2: April Fool

The Materia had rules.

It would default to a Toad transformation without user concentration, but Shape, Size, Gender, Species, and the minds of targets could be altered.

Targets cannot become Liquid or Gas.

Transformed subjects appear to be impervious to destruction when made objects. They can be damaged, but damage is reverted when time limit expires. Even if turned into a living thing and killed the target reverts to a living subject.

Cannot be combined with All. Single target at a time, but fast casting time.

Inanimate Objects could not be brought to life.

The target could not be made larger than twice its original size, but could shrink down to 1% of that original size.

Objects can only be simple items. No complex moving parts.

The user cannot deliberately self-target themselves, but the effects can be reflected by Reflect, or blocked by a Ribbon.

Sentient targets will be unaware of their transformation unless the caster wishes them to remain aware.

Transformed targets can be transformed again, but their original form decides all changes, preventing complex objects, larger or smaller than limits, and in this case Inanimate Objects can be brought to life.

The victim is restored to normal after 24 hours have passed, even if other changes were made. This makes the materia useless to the Shinra.

It was not, however, useless to one Wutaian Materia Thief... And no one had ever managed to level it up yet... No one had ever used it enough....

Yuffie knew the tricks of using materia. Over time, use of the materia meant it would become slightly heavier, until eventually, it would be able to do more. Fire materia, for example, could cast more powerful spells the heavier they grew. Once the materia weighed twice as much as it once did, it would split in two, each with the same mass.

And if she was right, her Supermorph materia was close to the mark where it would possibly do something else.

She had been moving from town to town, disguising herself with "volunteers". For example the cloak she wore was a receptionist at a Shinra office where she had raided it for some materia. It was one of the tricks she had learned with the materia: That she could be dressed for the occasion no matter what, and she could always have clean clothes.

The latter was achieved by using a regular rucksack with normal clothing carried within, kept clean... and shrunk down small enough to use as a keychain. As for day to day clothes? Well, the current shirt she was wearing had been a guard, and the shorts, well, it was either some office drone or another guard.

But time was almost up for them, and in an hour, they would turn back. So, she needed new clothes. And walking into a clothes store was the perfect place to find some.

'Hm, only seems to be one employee...' She thought as she entered. Well, not for long...

A quick wave of the materia and the worker became a model employee. Yuffie quickly carried the worker away before there would be witnesses to the creation of a mannequin with a name badge, but she also noticed that the materia had felt different now... Had it levelled up?

Hiding in a stall, and checking it, it appeared it did. To determine what a materia's spell was, one merely had to focus on it. If it gained a new spell, it sometimes could let a user realise what it was.

And in this case, Yuffie was please. It was self-casting... She could diguise herself. And she had a perfect plan now. There was no worker in the store, and there was a nice empty till... and even with her materia, she did need money.

'Alright... Now, I just transform myself into that shop worker, put her clothes on, leave these ones somewhere, and then I'm good to go! I just take in some more cash doing some dishonest work and then run off with the till tonight.... '

Yuffie dragged the mannequin to a stall in the changing rooms, undressed it and herself, and then cast the spell.

She instantly froze in place, turning herself into a bare mannequin as well. The materia, held in now plastic hands, dropped to the ground and rolled away.

It was fortunate for Yuffie she hadn't predicted this. If she had been aware her materia was going, she would be very upset. If she had been aware that there was a second worker who would soon find two mannequins undressed in the changing rooms, she would have been very upset. And if she had been aware that five minutes later she would be alongside her new fellow mannequin wearing a skimpy bikini set, she would have been very, very, upset.

Not as upset as the other worker when the clothes she had put back on hangers turned into people an hour later, but upset.
